The Housing Authority of St. Louis County.

Waiting List

The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) lottery waiting list is currently CLOSED.

The Housing Authority of St. Louis County has completed the computerized lottery for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) waiting list.  A letter has been mailed to prospects indicating their position number to the mailing address provided on their online application.

HASLC is currently serving position numbers up to 8616.

HASLC cannot determine when a prospects position number will be called from the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) waiting list. Please check back to this page to view what position numbers are being served.

The Housing Authority of St. Louis County uses online applications only. Individuals complete an online application during the open registration period.  If you are a person who requires a reasonable accommodation to complete the online application, the Housing Authority will assist you during the period the waiting list registration is open.

HASLC’s online application collects required preliminary information. Applying does not guarantee a place on the waiting list nor eligibility for the program.

HASLC utilizes a waiting list lottery system.  Selection is NOT based on a first-come, first served basis. HASLC determines the number of applicants to be selected from the lottery.  Applicants who have been selected are called prospects and placed on the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) lottery waiting list in an order determined by computerized random selection and assigned a position.  Prospects are called from the waiting list based on their position and notified by mail to attend an orientation on the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program.

It is the responsibility of the prospects to keep their contact information updated with HASLC.  Failure to do so could result in cancellation from the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) lottery waiting list.  Visit the Forms section or click here to update your information on the waiting list.

briefingsOrientation Briefing

When prospects are called from the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Lottery Waiting List, they must attend a group orientation briefing.  Briefings last approximately 2 hours.  All household members, 17 years of age and older are asked to attend.  Prospects failing to appear or not receiving approval to be called at a later date will be removed from the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Lottery Waiting List.

During the briefing, the Housing Choice Voucher program is explained by the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Department.  Caseworkers discuss the program requirements and the responsibilities of tenants and landlords.  Forms authorizing the Housing Authority to obtain information regarding income and assets are signed by the prospect. A release form is signed by the prospect and each member 17 years of age and older to check criminal records through St. Louis County Police.

Prospects are given a checklist of documentation needed for verification and a written appointment date to return to HASLC for a walk-in interview to determine if they are eligible for a housing choice voucher.  Everyone 18 years of age or older living in the household MUST attend the walk-in interview and supply all verification from the checklist that applies to them.  Only letters will be accepted as verification and must be on original letterhead paper and NOT older than 30 days.  If all the necessary documentation is presented at the interview and the prospect has met all program requirements, a voucher is issued for sixty days and the prospect may begin his search for housing.

Visit the Forms section or Click here for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Checklist for Walk-in Interview.
